More and more people are taking refuge in hotels when typhoons hit

From summer to autumn, Japan is in typhoon season. In recent years, there has been much flooding due to large amounts of rainfall in a short period of time.

In the past, evacuation to school gymnasiums and community centers in the area has been the norm, but recently more and more people are booking hotels in advance and evacuating based on weather forecasts.

Many hotels have guest rooms on the second floor or higher, making them suitable for flood protection. If the evacuation period is long, staying in a hotel would be a financial burden, but in the case of a typhoon, it is only for one day, so it is not that much of a burden. Hotels with sturdy buildings, privacy, and comfortable living conditions are in sought after.
