Yayoi Kusama’s Humanoid Appears at the Louis Vuitton Omotesando Store

Louis Vuitton presented a collaborative collection with artist Yayoi Kusama on January 1 of this year. Yayoi Kusama is a 93-year-old Japanese contemporary artist. A humanoid robot featuring her is on display in the window of the Omotesando store. This is her second collaboration with the brand since 2012. Now, Louis Vuitton stores in Paris, London, and New York also have window displays that embody her world.

This robot holds a brush in her right hand and paints dots, the symbol of her art. As you approach, the sensor detects you and moves her face to look at you and smile.

Yayoi Kusama was plagued by hallucinations and auditory hallucinations from an early age. To escape them, she began to paint what she saw and heard. The filled-in polka dots and stripes, which are synonymous with her, had a ritualistic meaning that protects her from hallucinations. Her colorful and powerful works are fused with many garments, underwear, bags, and other products, delighting people all over the world. Fly away! Her beloved works!
